Shaking Head Paxil Wellbutrin Damaged for life?

Posted by Jgraf on March 24, 2004, at 3:33:25

Hello,

I went off Paxil about 6 months ago, after being on it for over a year. About 3 months prior to going off of Paxil, I took Wellbutrin for a month to quit smoking. I was overdosed on the Wellbutrin and only took half the recommended dosage to get through it. Overdosed to the point of constantly sleeping and very very cloudy when awake and not able to drive. Anyway, now that I am clean, I have discovered that my head is shaking back an forth. I'm 38 and have never had this problem before. I wonder if one of these drugs or the combination has caused this and if it is permanent. It's not caffeine related either and I have not been taking any other drugs over the last 6 months.

Any advise will be appreciated!

It may resolve or improve. It could be related to the medications or if you currently are still depressed and anxious funny things can happen.

Withdrawl from the dopimanergic Wellbutrin might leave your co-ordination a little frazzled. It is well know that aerobic exercise promoted neurogenesis in motor control areas of the brain.

It's not the final word.

Sound like a movement disorder, seen with the use of neuroleptics. I can imagine this is also possible with Antidepressives for some few people. Tell your doctor about, he/she can help you with that.

good luck

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have a mild form of that too and it scares me to death! I've been off of meds for 4 months but I had been on 10 diff AD's. I hope that this is not permanent for both you and I. Good luck with everything

You have a common movement disorder due the medications your doc's put you on. The doc's should put you on another medication to stop your tremors, which are a side effect from your medication, if they don't know what they are doing..then you have to get a referal to a specialist. I'm an Rn whose worked in psychiatry for 12 years, but off for 4 due to my severe unipolar depression...my memory is poor from medication...but any antipsychotic medication can for sure give you these head movements, tounge movements, arms, hands etc...there's a name for them...I'll find out what it is, and get back to you!! Cogentin is a medication we used to use to stop these movements in patients on our unit. I hope this is somewhat helpful.
