Hi. I have been on 10mg for 2.5 weeks with no improved feelings for anxiety & depression. My dr. just upped my dosage to 20mg and I am a little worried my anxiety will get worse. Has anyone experienced this? I was also on Xanax for sleep but she switched me to Trazadone instead and I am afraid to take it and mix medicine. Does anyone have any advice?? Can this medicine really make me feel better because I feel like its making me worse! Thank you!

Hi Chloe,
I've been taking 15 mgs of Lexapro for about 3 1/2 months now. One of the most frustrating things about Lex is that it takes a long time before you see an improvement in your anxiety/depression. For many of the people here it took about 8 weeks before they noticed any positive changes in their mood.
Lexapro can sometimes increase anxiety for the first few weeks you're on it. You might want to ask your pdoc for a benzo such as Klonopin or Lorazepam to have on hand just in case you start experiencing some uncomfortable anxiety.
I've never been on Trazadone before, so unfortunately I can't offer any advice in that area. However, your doctor probably wouldn't have prescribed them at the same time if they didn't mix well.
Best of luck to you!
K.
