I am excited about beginning a trial of Parnate for my mixed anxious and depressed state that seems to encompass all the anxiety disorders and depressive disorders at the same time.
I know I probably should have started with Nardil, but I tried that years ago and well I obviously didn't stay on it although it's hard to remember why exxactly. I have a hard time tolerating all meds but a particularly bad time with Wellbutrin and more recently the SSRI's.
Is it normal to feel increasd anxiety (mild) and related symptoms on start-up? I will likely add in a benzo to calm that down. I'm only taking 20mg per day.
Any input on what to expect and so on is much appreciated.

You will probably have to increase to 30-40mg a day divided in 2 doses, taking the second dose no later than 2 in the afternoon (to help avoid insomnia---which for most is inevitable) At the higher dose you can generally expect a rapid increase in motivation, and rapid decrease in depression-- at least for me, the depression lifted almost immediately...it took a few weeks for my social phobia to improve.
FWIW, I think Nardil is a superior med for mixed depression/anxiety/phobic anxiety
