I've been taking Wellbutrin and seem to only be getting the energy component out of it and no improvement in mood. Is this everyone's experience? I have also noticed that the regular form feels like you're all hopped up on someting while the SR version seems like a sugar pill. What's your experience?

I take Wellbutrin SR along with 25 mg Lexapro. Wellbutrin gives me more energy, but I think that the Lexapro is what is doing the better job alleviating my depression.

I've just increased to 450mg SR because 300mg wasn't doing squat. It only makes me tired. I sure could use that energy!

Short term: Energy.
Long term: Mood improvement. :)I take immediate release, cuz the SR didn't work as well AND gave me awful insomnia. Made me jittery and crabby tho.
So try to keep an eye on your actual mood, separately from your physical energy level. It's always helpful if you can say something to your doc like "Well I had tons of energy but I was really irritable and bit everyone's head off!" :)

You might be right that the energy was lifting my moods for me. It did seem that to other people I was not much of a mood lift.

Hi:
I've been on 200-300 mg. WB sr for the past almost three years along with other meds. due to my dx'ed with Bipolar II with ultra rapid cycler.
For me, WB sr gives me 'energy,' 'concentration' along with depressive effect, ... but it seems NOT complete in full like other clsss of AD, such as some of SSRIs that I can not take because of my condition, ... brings up 'manic' episodes. Since the depressive side of my Bp is a kind major type, then the other med. Zyprexa is a booster to WB sr effect. My pdoc. recommended WB XL for lesser side-effect when I complained about 'acid reflux' problem from WB SR. However, I'm still in doubt this change, XL is 'cure.' So, still same SR version, 300 mg., three 100 mg. by spreading from morning to the night that works good, ... but still some morning is rough start. For that reason, I want to increase dosage to 400 mg. WB sr, but my fear is to be the increase of WB sr, also affects my stomach problem more. Then, I'm stuck with this dosage.
In my opnion, WB is fairly good AD med. in comparison to SSRI, because most of my depressive moods fairly lifted as time goes by. This med. WB needs 'time' to work on efficiently like any other meds. do, ... from the experience.
H.G.
