I've been on Effexor for 2 months now, and recently I've noticed a strange side effect (I assume). When I'm in that semi-sleep state just before I wake up, I notice a sensory "fluttering" effect that affects my vision, heart, skin, etc. It's hard to describe, but it's like a rapid vibrating of all my senses, except for smell; that would be weird, a vibrating sense of smell. Anyway, I wonder if anyone else has been "fluttering."

Occasionally it effects my vision slighty. Curtains or towels that are bunched up to form light & shaded parts sometimes look flickery to me. I've also had numb sensations in both forearms, feels like local anesthetic. I haven't had a fluutering heart, that would bother me.
Cheers,
Panda.

It is like a visual flickering. Personally I think that it is a good sign.
Before I started antidepressants, whenever I would go jogging. I would jog for miles, and whenever I used to get into my 'zone' I would feel very good. Things started to make sence and answers to my problems would arise. At this point, if I closed my eyes I would see the same flickering. Infact I knew I was at that point in jogging when I could see the flickering.
I have the exact senesation when I wake up abrubptly in the middle of the night. I have a solution to my problem and the flickering is going on.
I think it is a good sign in that it indicated some kind of brain renmapping state.
I could be completely wrong but...

I like that Idea of my brain "re-mapping," so I'll try to see if mental clarity accompanies it.
I used to by a serious cyclist and I too recall those moments of lucidity and clearheadedness that came physical activity. Nothing like those "natural" drugs.
Thanks.
