Hey, I've been on Zoloft now, up to 200 mg a day, the dose I will most likely be staying at...I take that in conjunction with Dexadrine for my social anxiety and tension. I have noticed that it has helped me GREATLY, however it seems to fluctuate....sometimes i'll be great, and sometimes I will slightly revert back towards my old ways....comments...experiences??

BecksA,
I don't think I can answer your question, but I was hoping you could answer a question for me. I too am on Zoloft for Social Anxiety, and am taking Adderall XR b/c I have some ADHD as well. I have noticed that the Adderall actually helps with my social anxiety. I think the two disorders work together. But the Adderall still makes me a bit jittery/nervous sometimes. I have read some earlier posts on this site that say Dexedrine is a better stimulant for those with Anxiety problems b/c it causes less anxiety than Adderall and MUCH LESS anxiety than Ritalin. Do you have any fellings on this? Have you tried any others, and if so, how do they compare to Dexedrine? How does the Dexedrine feel?
I am upto 150mgs/Day of Zoloft for my social anxiety (with a touch of OCD) and have been on it for about 3 weeks now. I have not noticed any big difference yet, but at least I can still function sexually, which was not a possibility for me on either Paxil CR or Lexapro.
I wish I could be of more help to you!! :(

>>First of all, what formula and how often Xday dexedrine do you take?
Personal experience: Zoloft left me feeling 'wanting' for calm. Later DX'd with ADD, the Adderall (dexedrine) gave me calm. But being free to gage my 'personal weather' in any time period, and develop my own skills (the ones that count and stick) required that i take "regular" control dexedrine. Also, your post leads me to a hunch that the area of your trouble may be about + or - dopamine as opposed to seratonin, norepinephrine, GABA ...AND a sensitivity that tells you that your meds should be doing the job of keeping you in a 'feelgood level habituation'.
What input have you been getting from anyone that tells you that normal emotions challenge us daily with many un-level or un-centering opportunities, _Just_ so we may create anew our own personal approach/power for Balance... ? There's eternally established strength to be had, here, of your own creation, becksA.Mobius,

My son has been taking Zoloft for 7 months. It took gradual increases in dosage to get him to the point where he is stable and reasonably content. This took at least 60 days to achieve. I believe over time there is a build up in one's system which helps with stability. He takes 75 mg now as we discovered 100 mg was too much. On 100 mg there was a kind of euphoria which was a little extreme. he always takes it in the mornings at the same time. He also needs Zyprexa which is for Schiz. and he gets that at night before bed. He is attending a large busy high school now, which would have been impossible to do without Zoloft. Zoloft dosage is critical and a 10 mg deviation one way or the other or a combo with other meds can cause noticable behavioral changes right away in some people. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
