Been there ... done it ... 300mg Effexor + 5mg Zyprexa = seizures and twitches for me so I had to stop after a little bit less than weeks.
I recommend starting with a much lower dose than that though ... my gp is just silly.
People ususally start on 1.25 or 2.5. And you'll start to feel the real effects only after a week or so as it sort of accumulates in your system.
I found the Zyprexa super sedating and it increased my appetite lie crazy. I've always hated chocolate and with that thing I found myself craving Nutella and such. While Seroquel made me lose 1 pound per week without me doing anything, with the Zyprexa I went from 105 back to 110 in no time. It changes your appetite and also your metabolism ... something about insulin and blood sugar ... its a very potent AP but also a nasty med for weight gain.

In the first six weeks (i started on 5mg) i gained 35 pounds. Yes, 35 pounds. I have eventually lost it all but 5 by simply not being on it. It made me sleep 10-12 hours a day, and basically ruined my life. It did nothing for anxiety, depression, or psychotic glitches. It was a mistake to go on it, and I am embarrassed that I bothered. I pity authentic schizophrencs and psychotic people who have to take this poison. It's part benozdiazipine, so if you have had xanax munchies, you know what this can do to you.
I was on a Zoloft/yprexa combo. I wanted off both because zoloft adds an hour of sleep per day for me.
What is not often stated is that a mood stabilizer can have an effect on psychotic symptoms. I take one now, and that is not exactly the most fun since after I take it I get a little dizzy and have a drunk feeling, but it's far better than zyprexa, and it adds no extra sleep.

Hi:
Zyprexa is practically 'Life-Saver' for me as having Bp II with ultra Rapid Cylcer. I was at the beginning 10 mg. that my pdoc. gave me as a sample, probably about $300.00 worth of Zyprexa I got on my initial Zyprexa regimen. However, this 'mega' dosage made me quite 'depressive mode' while the manic and ultra rapid cylcer was under control as time passed by. Then, in my own 'self-rx' 5 mg. Zyprexa. Still, my depression was quite bothersome. Afterwards, I went all down to 2.5 mg. Zyprexa that lasted about one and a half years with good results. However, the tolerance on Zyprexa gradually faded away, ... then it jumped up to 5 mg. and have been on since. I'm totally HAPPY about this med. Zyprexa!
I never got 'Efforxer' about which you're mentioning, so no comment to say.
With Wellbutrin SR 300-400 mg., this med. Zyprexa is a terrific med. I ever got in my life after dx'ed with Bp. Without Zyprexa, I probably ended up in the hosital or close to 'institution,' thus I owe to this med. along with the maker, Eli Lilly that provided me on 'Free med.' basis.
Regarding 'weight issue,' I never gained any weight, even on 10 mg. I might be not to 'gain weight' type, ... but I don't know why. The metabolism or something might be connected with Zyprexa and all other form of psycho. med. as seeing/reading other threads regarding Zyprexa.
Then, in my personal opinion, ... try this med. 'Zyprexa' staring from a tiniest dosage, like 2.5 mg., even 1.25 mg.(cut in a half) to see whether Zyprexa is for you along with Effexor, because Zyprexa has 'booster effect' to any psycho. meds. you're on.

I guess it depends why its being prescribed to you for. As an augmenting agent for your AD (i.e. the Effexor) and if you don't have any true psychotic symptoms or mania and such ... it might be rather strong.
This thing camls people down when they're having full blown psychotic episodes ... so I leave it to your immagination as to what it can do to a depressed but non-psychotic person. It makes you not suicidal, not sad, not happy ... just nothing.
It felt as it something was constantly constricting my brain and someone kept pushing the "reset" button on my mind. Quite annoying and frightening. It slowed me down so much that I couldn't even manage to play videogames which, without the meds, I would finish in like five minutes. With the Zyprexa, I kept getting killed on the first fight.
This is the end of the thread.
