Lexapro- When will I feel better???HELP!

Posted by mel_light on March 3, 2004, at 14:57:55

I've been on Lexapro for 14 days and don't really feel any different. I was on zoloft for 11 months and was able to get off of it until I had an IUD placed that just threw me back into anxiety bad. I take adivan on point of attack but I'm just wondering how long before I start feeling better? Also, I've been having strange dreams and the feeling like I'm not having good sleep at all at night, anybody else with this? any advise? Help!

If you are on week 2 of lexapro and are sleeping at all then you are doing much better than i was!...right now you are probably in the toughest part of adjusting to the med..next week you will probably feel alot better...in a few weeks you may experience a mild setback but dont be alarmed by it that is pretty normal..after you get past that it is pretty much smooth sailing and you should feel back to your old self..

Hi Mel,

In my experience, the majority of the Lexapro side effects go away by the end of week 3. Also, having strange dreams on Lexapro is not uncommon. This medication takes a while to kick in but you'll notice it working in another week or so.

K.

Hello Mel,

I just started Lex 3 days ago (10mg) and have some stronger symptoms of anxiety that have seemed to come on(Hot Flashes Mainly), but everyone says its a temp thing with Lex... i started taking it in the morning and by evening the annoying effects of Lex had calmed down, i also take a small dose of Xanax from time to time when i am laying there restless, ask your Doctor if thats a way to go.

Good Luck

Mark
