I just started Ritalin generic at 10mg 2xday. I see a little focus better. I've heard generic and Ritalin SR are worthless. I have inattentive ADD.
More people post that they prefer Adderall to Ritalin, as it has less coming down when the pill wears off. Adderall made my focus worse, and I felt almost drunk on it, so I switched to Ritalin. Next month I will ask for name brand Ritalin and see if it's any better, or possibly a higher dose. I see only slight improvement with focus.

Book suggestion:
It is NOT anti-ritalin, it's more neutral, but it explains the medication, and talks about how the medicine alone isn't usually sufficient to take care of the problems it's prescribed for, that it needs to be part of a more comprehensive approach.

I like Ritalin. I like its longer acting form Concerta even more. It helps me with mood too. But only for a 6-8 weeks then I have to go off it for a while. But it always helps with concentration. I take it as I need it. It does have rebound issues as it wears off. It is just a good fit for me. I tolerate it much better than any other stims. You learn how to take it. It is a controled substance though. It's speed. You cannot call in scrips or refills, you have to bring the scrip into the pharmacy every time. Hooray for Ritalin.
