Do this antipsycotics work just as well as ssri's for anxiety and depression? Do they have the typical problems that ssri's have with weight gain, tremors, constipation, and sexual difficulties? Is the side effects just related to dosage? I am getting sorta fed up with the side effects of Lexapro - weight gain and sexual difficulties. I don't like the idea of working out rigously every day for hours, eating hardly nothing, and having to take something for the sexual difficulties.
If they don't work as effective as the ssri's, how about the mood stabilizers like lamictal? I really would like to take just one drug, but I may be dreaming again.

I was able to come off of my antidepressant (celexa) after I reached a therapeutic level on lamictal. For me, it has had antidepressant effects. My primary reason for switching to lamictal was weight gain from Zyprexa. I currently take Geodon as an antipsychotic. I have lost a whole bunch of weight since starting this combo.
The weight gain and sexual side effects with SSRIs and some antipsychotics are really depressing...seems counterproductive to me.
Good luck,
Girl
