When i started effexor for mildest of mild depression caused by baby blues, it was great for me, gave me loads of energy and made mevery happy, but then silly me abused it, i was only taking 35mg thats all i needed, but i went to a rave one night with my friends and they were all getting high on extacy and those days for me were over, so instead i took about 5 tmes my dose of effexor to get that buzz and i sure did, that night i got my very first anxiety attack and had to stop effexor cold turkey.. anyone know what it may have done to me? iam still not right so maybe i could take something that does the opposite to effexor? maybe it released to much seritonin? i dont know... anyone know?
just tyring to see what med i can get. had so much advice but i need to see if i am right in this take something that does the complete opposite to effexor...

> Your friend Donna5x 35mg won't hurt you but I can understand why it gave you extreme anxiety. When I increase my Efexor dose I have to use a little Valium until I get use to the dosage increase. If Efexor helped you before it should help you again especially since such a low dose helped you so much, you're already on Remeron so you won't have any side effects problems from Efexor.

There is no way i am going back on that drug.. uchy veee no way... not for a million £/$ ... i want to know what it did to me.. did it release to much seritonin? someone help me understand plse.. in english..

> DonnaEfexor is an activating med, Prozac is too. They both can be used to treat anxiety but they can also give you a little bit of anxiety when you first start taking them, it goes away with time.

Believe me, people take that amount on a daily basis, and come off of it.
My neighbour was on 375 for 4 years and has tapered over the last year. Her depression has lifted, and she says she's doing fine. She looks fine too. Out plalying with her kids every day, smile on her face.
Personally, if you want the straight dope, I think that Remeron is making you feel this way.
I had *really* strange thoughts every day. For instance I would enter states of almost panic over things that made little sence, like what if the sun burns out, or what if my heart explodes.
I would always feel religiously panicked.But particulary, (note this), I would always have crazy panicky thoughs with regards to my health. I could not finish the movie john Q, for fear that my heart would stop beating. I only drank water for 5 days because I was afraid food would clot my arteries.
Yes, ssri's had there share of problems, but not this cluster. I'm not trying to push ssri's, but the experiences you are having are not foregn.
Your brain is not dammaged, but your depression is not fully treated.

Don't worry ... 5 x 35 is still way below the safe therapeutic range ... been on 300 daily for months and still alive.
Although I guess it might make you feel a bit strange for a little while from such a quick increase of dosage. But it shouldn't have done anything permanent.
From what I've read ... its like almost impossible to OD on Effexor ... and were talking about taking grams of the stuff ... not miligrams and even then, nothing permanent.

i'm sorry that happened, and i'm sorry i don't know what happened to you. i do know that effexor, particularly in high doses can cause you to test positive for PCP. you know - kw, angel dust, phencyclidine, shermans, etc? yes, effexor is chemically similar to PCP.
stay off it and count yourself lucky. i took effexor for a year, during which time it turned me into a zombie. then i got to go through the completely disgusting withdrawal syndrome! for over a month!
sorry, but i do not believe this is a safe drug. just because you can't OD and die off it easily does not make it safe.
