Switching from Effexor to Wellbutrin

If I'm switching from Effexor to Wellbutrin should I stop taking Effexor cold? Can you take both of these together?

what? NO! do you have a doctor?

don't know how much effexor you are on, nor for how long, but it is generally a VERY BAD IDEA to cold turkey off of effexor.

Thanks. Yes, I have a Dr. but his nurse said to stop the Effexor and start the Wellbutrin. After 3 days of Effexor I feel awful and very depressed. I now am seeing that I need to taper off or continue with both meds. I appreciate your input!

I'm on the middle dosage of Effexor, not the highest, and have been on for 6 months (very ugly divorce). Just felt I needed a little boost and so was recommended to try Wellbutrin, 150 mg. twice a day.

i don't know anything about using the both together, just be very careful with the effexor! if you start feeling flu-y, or get brain shivers, it's likely a touch of withdrawals. it might take quite a while to taper - good luck!

also do get counseling, exercise, all that stuff - all of it will help at least as much as an AD. well, for me anyway.
