Is 140mgs of Serax(oxazepam) an overdose and could it be fatal?
The other 'substances' ingested were 3 cups of warm milk with Celestial Season's TensionTamerTea-Extra(w/B vitamins), and valerian root capsules: 4 x 400mg.
Please advise soon?

Ofcourse I'm just some idiot on the internet, an actual doctor's opinion would be a really good idea to seek.If you don't know your benzos 140mg of Oxazepam is roughly equal to 70mg of Valium or 7mg of Zanax.
Hope things turn out OK.

Some people take 120 mg of Serax daily. I wouldn't worry about it. Certainly is not fatal. If someone took this much thinking it would be fatal then they should go to the hospital for a suicide attempt. If it was an accident, then just be more careful. The half life of Serax is 8 hours so it should leave the body fairly quickly.
If it was you who took this much, then I guess it's not affecting you too much because you were able to type out a post.

Assuming no other respiratory depressants, one could probably eat tablespoons of oxazepam and survive.

_Thank You_ for responding, so quickly, and for the direct information.
*whew*
As guessed, no, it was not i who had taken it, and was also not an attempt at suicide.
Sadly, phoning poison control or the only open pharmacy at that time was the least helpful of all. Lobbing a question to you all on PBabble before cruising online for info about Serax/oxazepam turned out to be the best thing i did.
My sister's condition certainly did not seem worrisome enough to drag her unwilling to an ER or call in paramedics, but i wanted to be sure she would not get worse (than her desperation to relaxe, regarding some troublesome news). Her visit was unexpected, and when she finally became relaxed after being up with me all night, i found out she had been taking my Serax. Thanks again, i am immensely grateful for your responses.

P.S. And Bach'sRescueRemedy was right there on the grocery list....

hey, im glad things are alright now with you sister. i am an exercise science and nutriton major. so i know about these types of things. to note; valerian root has a calming effect on the body as well as the other herb that she is taking. in my opinion these should not be takin together with a benzo. all have calming effects on the body which is good, but all of them together could be dangerous. i would consult your doctor to see if there is any drug interactions with this combination. or if she is going to keep taking this combination, make sure that she doesnt take them all at once. give the body atlest 3 hours to for the oxazepam to decline from its peak plasma concentration to avoid any interactions. im glad that she is ok. if this is working for her great. you know the old saying "if someting isnt broke, dont fix it" have a good day.
This is the end of the thread.
