I have been on celexa for 2years now and i hav the same problem with it as i do the other ssri's.
lack of motivation. please don't tell me welbutrin because i hate the stuff. anybody ever used provigil or something like it achieve this. the only thing that really works on me is opiods i take for chronic pain. they are great for this but are very addictive.

I take Celexa and have been drinking espresso when I need a jolt of energy. It works well for me, but may not be enough for you. I can't tolerate coffee, but espresso has less caffeine, or a shot of espresso has a lot less caffeine than a cup of coffee.
So far it has been a good combo for me. I really like Celexa and have taken it before, but the lethargic symptoms were too much for me. But with the espresso, things are looking up.
Good luck.

I had a similar experience with Paxil. No motivation. After a year or so, I came to realize that it wasn't so much that the Paxil made me less motivated as the fact that it wasn't working for me and I was still depressed. When I'm depressed, I have no motivation. I switched to Celexa and felt much more energetic, but that was only because it worked with my brain chemistry somehow.
Do you feel like the Celexa works for you or are you still feeling depressed? What else haven't you tried?

Unlike sb2, I have found that Lexapro actually reduced my motivation more than the depression did. It's a definite side-effect of SSRIs, and sufficiently troubling (along with weight gain) that I'm in the process of stopping Lexapro. (No easy task as you may discover some day.)
