I read somewhere that l-tyrosine may treat parkinson's disease and may replace l-dopa. Does it act the same way as l-dopa?

L-tyrosine is an amino acid which turns into phenylalanine in the body, which in turn becomes levodopa. But although it seems feasible as a proper treatment for Parkinson's, I doubt its efficacy would approach that of l-dopa.
