I think I might have bipolar II depression. I have had very little success with anti-depressants. They either don't work, make me worse, or only work for a very short time. A couple of days, up to a couple of weeks. I don't understand how bipolar depression is treated. Do I take a mood stabilizer with the anti-depressants, then they suddenly start working?

Hi! I noticed this post above and thought it might help. Good luck! I've been a sad mom and am now doing better -- hang in there! it's all worth it.
The difficulty with detecting BP2 is that the first few hypomanic episodes are easily overlooked and unrecognized. Check out the following description. Try to look back over your life beginning from about age 10 and see if there were any times that would fit the description of mania. It would help your doctor diagnose you.http://www.mentalhealth.com/dis1/p21-md05.html
Good luck on your doctor's visit.
