I have been on Effexor 225 mg. for over 3 years plus Klonopin 1 mg. at bedtime. Newly diagnosed BPII or somewhere on the spectrum and started a titration schedule on Lamictal - 25 mg. x 2 weeks,
50 mg. x 2 weeks, 100 mg. x 2 weeks, now at 200 mg. Went into a depressive slump and pdoc raised my Effexor from 225 to 300 plus the increase in Lamictal. I don't like how I feel at all! I have these moments throughout the day and evening where I think I might start to panic, but nothing happens. I have never been able to raise my dose of Effexor above 225 mg. due to activation of norepinephrine. I feel trapped! Can't get off Effexor without withdrawals, now afraid to stop Lamictal for fear of having seizures. Any ideas? I just don't want to feel this way anymore!
Thanks! Anne :)

you're screwed baby...you're going to have to tapper off them slowly and see how you feel. You must just be easily frustrated and moody, because I don't kno why you'd have to take such high doses and be on the meds for that long, I feel 100 per cent better being off them now, they did their job when I had real low serotonin levels that was really low, I mean, I couldn't sleep, couldnt eat, visually depressed, not just a little bit sad and pathethic!...I'd ask your doc if you could try clearing out your system a bit of meds, or maybe lowering the dose even so you have some feelings and emotions back!

Thanks Puppet. Screwed without getting kissed, eh? Although your characterization of my mood disorder is entirely unfounded and your expressed opinion that I have been on meds too long is not only silly, immature, hostile and clearly unsubstantiated, I will agree with you on one point; tapering down on one or both meds may be indicated. I will speak to my pdoc about this. I will look forward to hearing more about your experiences on one of the other boards. Peace.
Anne :)

Please be sensitive to the feelings of others -- even if yours are hurt -- and don't post anything that could lead them to feel accused or put down, thanks.

Yes, I see that my post was reactive because I felt vulnerable. My apologies to all.

I strongly disagree with Dr. Bob. Your response was not inappropriate. Prozacpuppet deserves no mercy, but is probably best ignored.
After some of his other posts, I'm surprised Dr. Bob is defending him instead of blocking him.
Best regards.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel put down. I've asked you to be civil before, so now I'm going to block you from posting for a week.

Two wrongs don't make a right...
