Hi!
1. How long have you/were you on Zyprexa?
2. What dose were you/are you on?
3. How was it's antidepressive effect?
4. If weight gain was an issue in what way did you try to help this problem (ie medicine/exercise etc etc)?5. Please say some good words about Zyprexa- how it helped you.
Looks like Mr. Ace Nardil will be on 2.5mg long-term- as it really helps with a certain OCD prob I have. Thankyou boys and girls!Ace,
Nardil 90mg, Zyprexa 2.5mg.

"1. How long have you/were you on Zyprexa?"
Nearly 3 years
"2. What dose were you/are you on?"Mainly 5mg, but up to 10mg at one point, but back down to 5mg as that worked best for me
3. How was it's antidepressive effect?I don't really know.. its hard to look back and work out as I was alot iller back then. Sorry!
4. If weight gain was an issue in what way did you try to help this problem (ie medicine/exercise etc etc)?I gave into it and am now along the lines of beached whale. Docs wouldn't prescribe meds to help, I was too scared to go out and exercise (and flat way to small to do it inside!). The carb cravings were all consuming.. I needed pasta to survive it felt like. This is what finally made me give it up, along with improved health.
5. Please say some good words about Zyprexa- how it helped you.
It saved my life. Quite seriosuly it saved my life. Before zyprexa suicide / sepf harm was just about the only thing I thought about. All my time was spent with thinking about and planning my suicide.. how to do it, what hymns to have at my funeral, how would people react, what to say in my note etc etc. Zyprexa, while not totally clearing this up, made it livable.. Made me not totally obsess about it. It made me carry on with life as best as possible and not give in to the obsessive thoughts. Its my personal Wonder drug!!

I used Zyprexa for a week or two at 2.5-5mg/day. I've also tried a few other AT antipsychotics.
I don't have anything to add to the above post except to say that antipsychotics, including Zyprexa, always seemed to make me feel more depressed. I haven't heard of these drugs having a positive effect on depression, besides relieving obsessive or psychotic qualities.

Weight gain in the begining. Quickly remedied with diet and exercise. Good old fashioned will power. lost 60 lbs in 3 months, and kept it off for almost 1 year now.

This is what finally made me give it up, along with improved health.I have read that amantadine (Symmetrel) has been used to prevent weight gain while taking Zyprexa. I also know of one person for whom it seems to have worked. She had taken Zyprexa three times, which produced significant weight gain. On the fourth trial, her doctor added amantadine. She gained not a single pound.

> Hi!
Hi! Ive already posted once about zyprexa today but posting in fun today considering I only do it like twice a year. (hopefully if you read the other post this contains some new info that might help)
> 1. How long have you/were you on Zyprexa?
Ive gone on and off of it a lot, but when Ive been on its been anywhere from 6 months to 2+ years.
> 2. What dose were you/are you on?
5-10mg

excellent.
> 4. If weight gain was an issue in what way did you try to help this problem (ie medicine/exercise etc etc)?
diet, exercise, wellbutrin, and provigil all helped.
> 5. Please say some good words about Zyprexa- how it helped you.
also good for anxiety, including social, mania, sleep, clear thinking. Great drug. Ive always gone off it for stupid reasons, then eventually come around to it again.

Sorry heres 3 more things its good for: irritability, motivation, and just generally interacting with the real world and its people comfortably. If I remember correctly though nardil already 'cured' you of practically everything applicaple to you among the benefits Ive listed here and in the previous post I just did, but a little boost cant hurt if you happen to have a good response. Ok I am really done writing this time.

Incredibly good!

I gained approximately 50 pounds. I could think of nothing but food. I felt hungry 15 minutes after consuming a huge meal. I tried exercising 5 times per week, eating a low fat diet, eating a low carbohydrate diet...everything! Nothing would take the weight off. I switched to Abilify right before Thanksgiving and have lost 30 pounds since - with minimal effort. HOWEVER, as my pdoc informs me repeatedly, Zyprexa does not have this effect on everyone. Some people (as the previous posts affirm) can actually lose weight while taking it.

I credit Zyprexa with saving my life. I have bipolar 1 and I literally destroyed my life during cycles of depression and mania. Within 3 months of initiating Zyprexa therapy, I achieved a sense of balance that I had never experienced before. My whole life turned around.
