I have done it sooooo gradual cutting it in half and taking for a couple of months etc... When I completely stop it I get flu like symptoms, shaking that do not subside. I figured this one out myself after my 1st tapering off experience. After 2 weeks of being off of the klonopin I was still really sick and getting sicker. My husband suggested that it might be the klonopin that I had stopped. So I took .5mg and within hrs I was fine!

Hi and Welcome...

I have been on Klonopin for about two years at .25mgs. to .5 mgs. per day. It what works for me and helps keep me in the game of life. I have no problem remaining on this for a long time. I have tried to discontinue and have not been successful, but, mine was due to the remergence of my anxiety, so I may be a lifer on Klonopin and I'm OK with that.... and that was a big realization for me in the acceptance of that fact.

But, we are all different and I'm sure you have your own good reasons for wanting to discontinue. To continue your proceed with your weaning to off - I suggest you consult your Dr. and possibly an expert in Pharmacy compounding. You may need to make really small cuts and a liquid preparation can be useful for that. Very precise measuring of mgs. via cc's to even 1/10 of cc's. Just a suggestion that may help.

Good Luck,
Kelly

Please see my post "How I tapered off of Klonopin". As I said in post, the last half of pill is the most difficult to get off. I don't know why.

You don't have to be on this drug for the rest of your life. You have to cut the half of pill and taper in the method which I described above. I know it seems like .5 mg should be easy to get off of, but it is not. You have to taper off of it very slowly. This is my experience.

The above is an excellent resource. It has withdrawal schedules and everything.

i havnt read your other post. but i assume that if your on .5 mg pills. if .5 mg is too hard to get off of i would start breaking the pills in half, go a could weeks and if needed break them into even smaller peices.

good luck

I don't know a sane doctor that still prescribes Valium. As a matter of fact the past 2 I've gone to said they stopped prescribing Valium 10 years ago.

I've taken it and it is nasty.

My advice would be try crushing the pill into dust. Fill up a glass with juice and take the full .5mgs for a week. After a week try cutting down 1/10 of the liquid with .5mgs in it. Do this for 10 weeks and you should have a better time getting off of it.
