Hello all,
I've recently had 4 ECT unilateral treatments for major depressive disorder. Although they have helped slightly (with no memory impairment), my anxiety has increased. I'm wondering if switching to bilateral may reduce the anxiety??? Also, how many treatments does one need to have before significant improvement occurs??
Thanx

Do you take any medicine? Do you take anything for anxiety? You may want to look into it. Zyprexa has worked best for my anxiety. It would be a good med for your disorder.

Thanx for the reply,
I take no meds for anxiety but I have. The reason why I'm undergoing ECT is that I have an exquisite intolerance for medications. For anxiety, I've tried Clonazepam (Klonopin), zyprexa and risperdal, of which I can only tolerate my the last one. But all the anti-anxiety drugs tend to cloud my thinking. Anyone liked buspar? If its even used anymore.

Sebastian,
What dose are you on and for how long? I have just gone up to 10 mg and am noticing significant decrease in anxiety, but also some sedation and lots of constipation. How do you deal with that? My worst fear is having the med poop out on me. (No pun intended!)I'm also wondering how safe it is, especially with regard to TD. No weight gain so far and no increased appetite.

I was on 10 mg about 5 years, I drank a ton of caffine, later took 300 mg Wellbutrin SR / 3 times a day. The wellbutrin worked well and no anxiety. Now I take 7.5 mg zyprexa + 300 Wellbutrin + 3.75 mg Abilify. Not a problem at all with tired. I also take 60 mg Celexa. I tried 5 mg zyprexa the anxiety was better tolerated with not much of a sleepiness. 7.5 is realy good: little tired much better anxiety level. Too much relief is not good, atleast now for me. I got addicted to the 10 mg dose, not that its addictive. I wouldn't try 15 mg, it put me to sleep 24-7, Spent as much as 18 hours in bed. 10's a good dose, Works good with a stimulant!
