I have been on Wellbutrin since June.. for anxiety, panic (and depression, which seems to creep up on me with the anxiety). Before that I was on Celexa, and before that on Paxil. Although paxil worked really well, I gained about 40 lbs in 2 years!! So I became really depressed about my weight and tried Celexa. Celexa and sex drive were BRUTAL, so went to Wellbutrin. Was taking 150mg and felt pretty good... but I still had a bit of anxiety feelings, so my dr. put me up to 300mg /day. Holy crap - i am so wired that I feel panic and anxiety all the time. I dont know if it's just a coincidence that this is happening with the upped dosage, but it is crazy. I have only been on 300mg for 2 weeks, but my dr. says the stimulant factor should go away soon. For now I am also taking clonazepan to chill me out. Anyone in a similar situation? This is crazy... I just want to feel normal and not be a damn walking pharmacy!!!

I got some massive headaches the first week on 150mg, but they went away. But once I hit the 300mg, I was really wired, almost too much to function at work if I had to sit in a meeting or anything. I hate this feeling, and I'm going back to Lexapro. My wife points out that even if sex is easier on WB, we haven't even tried it since I started WB because I've been so fidgety and irritable I haven't been in the mood.R

I KNOW! I am comletely wired - the problem is that I have anxiety/panic disorder, so I have panic attacks all the time. Do you have anxiety as well, or just depression? What is Lexapro? What does it do?

Lexapro is an SSRI. I felt great when I took it for a month before the WB. I switched back to Lexapro from WB on Saturday and I definitely feel better than on the WB, but not as good as I did the first time around with Lexapro. But this week might not be typical, we had a close family friend kill himself on Friday so I am having trouble sorting out drug effects from just being a little freaked out.
My diagnosis is mild depression and mild anxiety, also just starting alcohol recovery.

Sorry to hear about your family friend... I am sure you will start feelinge better soon enough.
This Lexapro stuff... how does it make you feel, compared to Wellbutrin? I mean, does it make you happy, calm, drowsy, hungry (you know, the weight gain issue with SSRI!), alert, motivated to get out of bed, etc, etc,.. I am going to do some research about it, but I find that first hand experience is the best research a person could find. Thanks for all your posts.

I find that it makes me very calm, it's much easier to take things in stride, be patient with the kids and with work, etc.
I haven't noticed any weight gain on it yet. I'm overweight, was aiming for losing about 1 lb a week, which I've still been achieving (except for the 10 days I was on WB, when I lost 5 lbs, and this over Thanksgiving!). I haven't noticed any problem with sticking to my diet or with getting myself to the gym.
I do have a little queasiness in the morning when I first wake up, but it usually passes withing a couple of minutes of getting out of bed. And keep in mind, I just got sober right before I started taking it, so I'm comparing a Lexapro morning to an 8-drink hangover morning...I'll take the Lexapro, thankyouverymuch. I also get a minor dizzy spell now and again, but nothing that bothers me much.
The worst side effect for me is the difficulty with orgasms.
This is the end of the thread.
