Hello, I am Mr. Zombie

Posted by socialdeviantjeff on November 26, 2003, at 19:59:13

I'm really beginning to wonder if I really need to have these meds. Yes, my depression and anxiety are a little better(and I mean little) but I'm in the worst shape of my life. I used to multitask, now It takes a major act of will to trudge through one thing. It's hard to keep my balance sometimes. my coordination sucks, I feel weak all the time. I get shivers and electrical-like shocks. I'm also incredibly irate.

I spend most of my day watching TV or reading. I hate it. I lay on the couch all day. I feel guilty about that when I see my parents working or doing anything else, really.

Just venting

A lot of this I'm sure has to do with the meds, Tegretol and Effexor.

Obviously they are not working...you need to find a better med or med combo. Effexor isn't much of an AD IMO.

When meds arent working there is no reason to be on them. They should produce a great therapeutic response to justify their continued use.

And people can find this- there a tonnes of drugs and combos out there. It is just that Pdoc and patients too settle far to often with partial responses.

Ace.

Hi Jeff:

You don't sound like a social deviant at all to me--just someone struggling with life like the rest of us.

I take Effexor and Tegretol (carbamazepine) as well as Wellbutrin and clonazepam prn. Effexor and Wellbtrin together get me incredibly hyped-up. Carbamazepine, on the other hand, makes me feel spacy and kind of in a dream world even though I know I'm awake. I'm not recommending this for you, since I'm not a pdoc, but I take the carbamazepine in the late evening, just before I go to bed--I sleep like a baby.

Regards,

Caleb

Well, I'm not a social deviant, I hope ;), I found this site and had to come up with a name(shrug). Unfortunately, I'm kinda stuck with what I'm on for now. I think I might have some type of MCSS with neuro drugs and so far, despite the side effects now, these drugs are the best tolerated so far that even work marginally. I also take my Tegretol at night, sadly my sleep is still pretty bad.

Mr. Zombie,

I agree with previous post. It is obvious the A/D's you are currently taking is not working. If you have been on it for at least a month and it is not working, then you need to ask you pdoc to try a different A/D. I have been taking A/D's for over 12 years and my experience is that if the A/D had not worked in 3 to 6 weeks, in all probability it is not going to. I am currently on prozac, remeron and lamictal and I can say that I am depression free. Hang in there and hopefully, you will find the right A/D or A/D's. Also, it is helpful if you are having on a regular basis, talk therapy along with A/D's. It certainly has worked for me.
