My wife was diagnosed with schizophrenia on Tuesday. She was given Geodon to help stop the voices that are telling her to kill herself. I know it's only been 2 days but she still is hearing them.
Anyone in the same boat?

Hard to say, you should probably ask her. I was taking Geodon (not for Schizophrenia), and it started working pretty quickly as I recall.

I was diagnosed with schizophrenia and given Geodon about 3 years ago. It worked very well, within 2 months or so. Give the medication time to work; sometimes progress is made very slowly. The treatment success rate for schizophrenia is pretty high.
I was later diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, but the medication works for psychosis associated with that as well. Once your wife is feeling better it might be a good idea to have a consultation with a neurologist. The neurologist can rule out things like brain tumors, stroke, and trauma, all of which can create an symptoms similar to those of schizophrenia.
Most people do get better.

It will probably take some time to kick in. I admire you for sticking by her and supporting her during this time. A lot of other people can't handle stuff like this. You must be a very strong and kind person. God bless you.

> Thank you for your supportive words, I need it. Just one word...love.> Geodon from what I know can be titrated to its highest dose after 3 days, which greatly speeds up relief of delusions and hallucinations. It is one of those rare drugs that by raising the dose rapidly, Patients tend to have quicker improvement without being blown away with side effects. If your wife is still having positive symptoms over the next few days, you might want to ask her doc about a kick up in dose to 120-160mgs a day.
