i have a question... my neice is takeing effexor.. not sure the mg??? anyways she seems to have gained alot of weight since she's started takeing this.... is this a common se???? thanks elizabeth

I was on it for about 8 months. and i gained about 12-15 pounds. i was also a freshman in college so i dont know if i can attribute it all to effexor. I do think I gained some due to the drug though. i know this isnt scientific, but hope its helps. she can talk to her doctor if she is worried about it and i know that some meds wont affect weight as much. Ive also heard of some people taking half the dose for two different meds at the same time.

Its possible...the drugs can affect everyone differently. I lost weight on Effexor but others have gained.
