My husband is currently on 1000 mgs of Depakote and Paxil, Is it safe to add 100 mgs(slowly) of Topamax to the mix? Does anyone have any input? Thanks

It is safe if his PDoc says it is. I was on Depakote and Topamax. Still on the Topamax. But I am off the Depakote. If his PDOC says to add the Topamax then try it and see how it works. Watch for side effects. The only side effects I had with Topamax was everything tasted funny at first. But that went away after a month or so. Topamax seems to be helpful for me. One a the few I have stayed on longer than 3 months. It has been a year now. Good LUCK!!

HI Eggy, I hope you don't mind if I ask you a few questions about the Topamax. Why are you on it? What dosage do you take and have you lost any weight? Very Curiously Yours, Nervz

I am on Topamax for depression. But I also have petit mal seizures so it helps that too. I take 100MG everynight before I go to bed.
I did lose weight. The only reson I lost the weight is because everything tasted funny. I am a very picky eater anyway. I had no negative side effect but every single person who takes medicine responds differently. I am learning this OH so too real with Abilify. Just watch for side effects and give the meds a good 3 months to work if you don't have any serious side effects. Good Luck. Let me know if you need more.
