I just started taking 15 mg Abilify and am having a lot of trouble sleeping. Some of this may be from going off the small dose of Clozaril I was on. I have been experiencing a lot of insomnia as I have have tapered it off.
I would like to know what people have successfully used to treat the insomnia that can occur with Ability.
Also, in peoples' experience, does the insomnia subside after a while? How long?
It would be nice to have a long, active day and at the end of it be exhausted and sleep like a lamb! Can I forget about this ever happening again?

Anticholinergic drugs such as benztropine (Cogentin) or Risperdal may help with your insomnia until and if you get used to the Abilify.
The passing of insomnia varies with each individual.

I take 2.5 to 5 mg Abilify daily in the morning. To deal with the resultant insomnia I take 2.5 mg Zyprexa at night, and that does the trick. Also, taking 3 mg melatonin with 100 mg B-6 helps. Taking Seroquel at night (25 mg) may also help.
