I'm having to stop Lamictal (not getting any response/relief at all with it) and will probably move on to either Topomax or Zonegran, considering I also have about 50lbs to lose. (Am also taking 300mg Effexor XR.)
Does anyone have any suggestions, or know anything about these drugs, especially Zonegran? I've read a lot of posts about Topomax, but can't find much useful info about Zonegran.
Thanks in advance,
Sooshi

Hi,
I'd say there has been more research done on Topamax, so stick with that. Is Lamictal really weight neutral as it claims?

Hi, I lost 25 pounds on Topamax. It helped me in that aspect.
Here are 2 sites I found for you if you'd like to look at them.
http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic3/zonisamide.htm
http://www.medscape.comI'm sure there are tons of others.
As far as 'experience' with Zonegran, I, personally, do not have any. Maybe someone else will see your post and help ya out.
Hang in there and best of luck!:-)

For what it's worth, Zonegran is also often connected with weight LOSS.

I gained 18 lbs on Depakote (in addition to losing my hair) so switched to Lamictal, on which I gained an additonal 6 lbs, but I don't know if that was because of residual effects of the Depakote or not???

Lamictal has been totally weight-neutral for me.
