Looking for psychiatrist in Washington DC/ bipolar

Posted by Abby on October 10, 2003, at 11:10:17

Can anyone recommend names of good psychiatrists who keep abreast of current research in bipolar disorder in the Washington DC metropolitan area?

Feel free to e-mail me at student@ziplip.com

Thanks,
Abby

Hi,

The best thing to do is call a university hospital psychiatry dept.in that area- Georgetown, George Washington U. and find out what attending psychiatrist they can recommend for you. I wouldn't recommend going to a doctor who is a faculty member and works out of the clinic at a university simply because that is heavily research based and a doctor could be more likely to prescribe medicine faster than a private doctor. That's just my opinion from personal experience.

Good luck.

I would recommend contact Chris Gavin who is at NIMH and a writer at BipolarNews.org at info@bipolarnews.org . He has been
doing research in bipolar disorder for over 12 years now, and was part of
the Stanley Foundation Bipolar Network for the 8 years it was in
existence.
