Is it depression just starting without any external stimlus? Linkadge, you said that ads can often work quickly for primary depression but not for non primary. You see, for me, I started with social anxiety alone 5 years ago (when I was 14) Now my probs include a.d.d., double depreesion, generalized anixiety, and still the social phobia, which I still see as the strongest link to the others. Ive never responded to an ad, but my doctors always took me off them after about 6 - 8 weeks. Maybe I dont have primary depression? Any coments would be great thanks.

Do your problems seem to stem from specific life events. Are your problems triggered by stress? Do your problems seem nonexistent when times are good.
Which antidepressants have you tried, and what sorts of effects did they have on you.
Some people with symptoms of dysthemia don't really have any periods of major depression at first, but when left untreated they often advance and branch out.Symtpoms of dysthemia can branch out to ADD, social phobia anxiety etc.
You could try things like magnesium, blueberry extract, st. johns wort, or perhaps a low dose of a a tryclic like amitryptaline.
