Pregabalin for GAD/anxiety-anyone tried it?

Posted by Jasmine Neroli on October 9, 2003, at 0:50:40

In my never-ending search for anxiolytics, came accross Pregabalin. Just out this year I believe. It's a GABA "analogue" (??) and is supposed to be similar to Neurontin (Gabapentin). Suspiciously claimed to have clinical evidence of "no withdrawal symptoms" by the manufacturer. Supposedly as effective for GAD as Xanax, Ativan and Effexor, but quicker in onset than Effexor. Anyone know anything about this drug? Anyone tried it?
Thanks.
Jas

Although there may have been Pregabalin clinical trial participants here, Pregabalin has not yet been filed with the FDA for marketing in the U.S. Pregabalin was filed in March 2003 in Europe, so it may well be approved sometime in 2004. What I want to know is why the FDA decided to halt, at least temporarily, the clinical trial of Ocinaplon, the most promising anxiolytic in any company's pipeline. Even were there be no such hold, the two year carcinogenicity studies will push out the arrival date of Ocinaplon out to at least 2005.

Thanks for the info...it's all so very frustrating!! The potential for other avenues of healing is out there.
