Hi, i have been coming here for many years.... i been diagnosed with anxiety 3 yrs ago... well anyways.. my freind started to feell dizzy one night, she was here playing cards with us all... and she felt terrible, so she went and laid down in my bed, the following morning she went to the doctors and he said she was suffering with anxiety, due to her miscarriage few mnths prior, any ways, they gave her effexor for her anxiety. she was taking it for a few weeks, i had a fone call day before yesterday to say she had callapsed and was rushed to hospital, it all turnt out she had a seizure from a frontal lobe brain tuomour, i was freaked out about this, thats what caused her dizzyness and extreme anxiety.. and apparently the effexor helped speed up the seizures, she is so lucky... if they didnt do a brain scan yesterday to find wahts up she couldve be dead now, she is now recovering in hosiptal after her op which went well thankfully.... it wasnt maligtant thank god.. but she is sueing the doctors.... just thought i would let you know, if you got an instinct about something then go get it sorted out asap.....
thanx guys hope yall well... :)

Crazychickuk,
Sorry to hear about your friend, she is lucky to be alive. It's fortunant she was able to get to hospital in time. That is an important point you brought up. I think a full physical is very important for anyone considering anti-depressants (or any prescribed medication) to make sure of proper health. I have been on many, many anti-depressants over the years-and knock wood- I am very healthy otherwise. I get a full physical every year for myself and because I am ON meds. Psychotropic drugs are NOT candy in any shape or form and should be taken very, very seriously when being given to people. Many U.S. doctors dispense them too freely without finding out in great detail what people's symptoms are so they often aren't even in the ballpark for finding the proper med for his/her needs.
Anyway, best of luck in continuing to conquer your anxiety.

When I started seeing my current pdoc he gave me a series of blood tests to see if my symptoms were being caused by, as he put it, something "weird." It was only after these tests came back negative that he started me on an AD. this should probably be routine practice, but unfortunately often isn't.
