Can anyone tell me how well they are doing with a zoloft and abilify combination? I just heard from a friend that this combination shouldn't be done. My son has been on Zoloft for about a year along with risperdal. He still had some manic kind of behavior which has gotten worse. I don't know if it is because of the abilify/zoloft combination. He seems so bipolar now. I would like to find out from other people about this combination. His ocd seems to also have gotten worse. The only thing that has really impoved are his tics. He also has adhd and aspergers. We tried some adhd meds. but they made his tics worse.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. ASmomm

I tryed Abilify for a while. It gives you a lot of energy with panic and no sleep. I was also taking Celexa, a similar anti-depresant. I had switched from zyprexa, anouther anti-psychotic that causes tiredness rather than insomnia like the abilify. I remember taking risperdal too, it made me very lethargic, so bad that I sayed on the couch all the time, and had too stop taking it. with the right dose of Zyprexa, which if you have not tryed you should try it, I was more mobile than on the risperdal and in my previous condition. But sedate which is better than nevous energy that gets worse with the abilify, the only success I hear on abilify is at small doses. But it doesn't sound like abilify works for him.

hey dude, how did you know whether your problems were caused by zyprexa withdrawal or abilify itself? (sorry if i've asked this before...)

really i thought zyprexa was THE most sedating atypical... worse than seroquel, risperdal, geodon etc

i think if i went to 15 mg abilify i would consider taking an anticholinergic or beta blocker for a month and see if the bad effects disappear
