i am currently receiving treatment for depression and anxiety, i started taking paxil about a year ago, slowly increased my dosage up to 75 mg a day. The paxil was extremely helpful for the anxiety, but didnt help much on the depression and overall listlessness. at first my psychiatrist added 2.5mg of zyprexa, which didnt do much except makeme sleep 12-16 hours a day, and when i was awake i was very lathargic, and sore. needless tosay i stopped takin that. then i was on i think 37.5 mg of paxil and 80 mg of starttera for a while but all the strattera did was give me insomnia, so i stopped taking that. the next time i saw my doctor i asked to be switched to zoloft. i started at i think 25 mg for 2 weeks i think, and during this time i weened myself off the paxil. out of all the combinations of meds ive been on, when i was on the paxil and zoloft i felt great, for about 2-3 weeks, starting from about aweek after i started taking the zoloft till about a week after i stopped taking the paxil. then i crashed hard. For almost a month i felt tired and useless, couldnt get myself out of the house. over the next few months my doctor increased my dosage of zoloft to 200 mg. this helped the depression alot, but the anxiety was creeping back. then he added wellbuterin to the zoloft, and eventually brought me to 200 mg zoloft and 300 mg of welbuterin. the only difference ive noticed from the wellbutrin is that i makes me jittery, bouncing my knees all the time cant stop fidgeting etc. the last time i saw him he wanted to increase it to 400!!!, i told him no, as a matter of fact, in a month in a half, it hasnt done anything, rather tyhan increase it id like to stop taking it altogether, he askedme to give it another month at curren dosage.. so i agreed. ok.. now we are current. at this time i brought up the possibilityof maybee adding buspar. it is unfortunte that i cant take the paxil and zoloft together, cuz tas what was really doing th trick. when he opened his cabinet to get me samples of buspar i saw that he had samples of abilify, something he wanted to put me on b4, but he did not have samples then, and my insurace didnt cover it. he thought that would b a better idea than the buspar.. so NOW im on 200 mg zoloft/300mg wellbutrin/5mg abilify... does that seem excessiveor is that just me?

I think that you are the best judge of wether or not you are over medicated. When they suggested adding a fith drug to my cocktail, I drew the line. I told them it was making me very uncomfortable. With supervision I slowly stopped everything and just went back to the drawing board. Now, a year later, I only take Lamictal. I am much more comfortable. I am not recomending that for you. I'm all for taking more than one med for different symptoms, but when they start prescribing one med to counter the effects of another med it just strikes me that both of the meds are wrong. There are so many ADs out there, chances are a single one may work for you. It's your call. Good luck.

I have gotten a second opinion more than once. I did before the most recent change that I made. But it was my decision to tell my pdoc that the I'd had enough of the prozac-ritalin-resperdal-neurontin cocktail. Luckily my doctor listens with me.

well, i am also seing a psychologist, when i told her i was on 200 mg of zoloft and 300 mg of wellbuterin, her jaw dropped, then like i said, after i told the psychiatrist th wellbuterin wasnt doing anything for me besides making me extremely jittery, and gave me lethal gas(is that a known side effect? im killin myself here), h wanted to increase it to 400 mg, but i called that off. then to top it off, he put me on abilify.. to help with my anxiety, but from what i have read on this forum, the side effect of abilify are similar to those of the panic attacks i was having leading meto get on meds in the first place lol. racing heart, increased anxiety, diffuculty breathing, all of this is what im trying to correct, not make worse...so i see me psychologist tommorrow, shes gonna have a ball with this, as my second opinion, from day one she has stated, under her breath basically that sh thinks my otehr doc is a quack. in realistic terms she said "thats exactly what ive heard about him.. he dosnt listen and he over medicates.. which is what leads me here, my pharmacist doesnt thinkthe combo imonis that bad.. so i dunno..
