hi cybercafe:-)
For me, Paxil was very sedating. I didn't have much, if any, sedation on Celexa for some reason. Maybe others here can shed their light:-)Hang tough!

celexa is sedating for me as well. You may want to try a more activating SSRI. Zoloft and Prozac are supposed to be the most stimulating.
From all the people I've talked to, they get very little sleep on prozac, 6 hours usually.
You may want more than that but,Good Luck

So you've definately got atypical depression. Have you tried effexor (or were you the one for to whom it gave high BP)? You could also try a combination of an SSRI and say Strattera, a NRI

Hey There!
For me, EFFEXOR was very activating~that's why it helped my depression so well. I think it was a great med for me at the time, but it did stop working.Take care:-)

Cyber,
When I went off the zyprexa last year I was left with only celexa (40mg) and I don't remember getting any sleep. Maybe I was in zyprexa withdraw, but I didn't get sleep. Its worth a try. Also when took the abilify (15mg) and didn't get sleep I was taking 40mg celexa.

yep effexor gave me high BP
i am currently taking SSRI + ritalin BUT i can still sleep quite a bit even after downing 40 mg of ritalin SR ....... like 12 hours
it also doesn't seem to help with decreased libido .....
i always thought a stimulant would do more
don't get me wrong though.. it *really* helps with concentration

if another SSRI doesn't work for me, I guess i could always invest a couple grand in abilify under the assumption that i'll be able to hold down a job and pay it back !?

Effexor was very sedating in the beginning. Now, at 300mg, it isn't sedating at ALL.

Great one linkadge! I'm on Effexor and Strattera and feel like toothpicks are holding my eyelids open continuously. I had to lower my Strattera because I was only getting 1 hr of sleep a night. Yes, definately, without a doubt, Effexor + Strattera means no sleepiness! LOL
