Hi,
I've been on Lexapro for about 8 months and have to raise the dose to maintain no depression.
I've heard that on Effexor, this doesn't happen; any feedback regarding this.
Thanks,
charly

Charly - Poop-out with Effexor™ (venlafaxine) does occur, but it doesn't (in my experience) seem to be as much of a complaint as it is with the SSRIs. I have no study to prove that poop-out is "really" less with Effexor™, it is just an observation.

I don't know about other people's experiences, but I've been on Effexor XR for just over a month now (starting at 37.5 and moving to 75) and, though it really seemed to help a lot at first, lately, especially this past week or so, I'm feeling more like I did before - more moody spells, consistent tiredness, wish to escape, more suicidal thoughts and/or thoughts about hurting myself (which really frighten me, because they come out of nowhere - I'll be walking down the hall, thinking about soemthing else, and suddenly it pops into my head "man, I hate my life. Wouldn't a suicide attempt solve a lot?" but I digress). I have an appointment with my doctor next week and have decided to ask her about upping my dosage, because overall I was very happy with this drug - side effects nothing I couldn't handle, and increased drive and ambition (i.e. I had some). I hope that this doesn't mean that Effexor will 'poop-out' on me again after I get accustomed to the new dosage. Frankly, right now I'm more inclined to think that it's more a result of my own mind - that I need to make more of an effort to improve myself outside the medication. Man, I wish I could get counselling...but again, I digress.
I don't know if this answers your question or not. Hope it helps!

In my opinion, I think I DID have 'poop-out' on Effexor that's why I am now on Lexapro. I tried several times to restart Effexor but with no success-it just stoopped working! But everyone is different remember.............
Good luck!
