There is an individual on psychobabble who goes by the name of "linkdage" who is discussing how to make an improvised rTMS device. I consider this to be both dangerous and rather stupid. I understand the desperation one feels when one has refractory depression as I have been there myself. However this is just ridiculous. He doesnt know what he is doing, he's not a doctor.
It may give other readers bad ideas and lead to injuries or possibly even brain damage.

If you are concerned about linkadge you could give him advice in a more friendly way instead of constantly berating him (and others). And also you could accept the fact that he is entitled to his own opinions and shouldn't be attacked just because he is pursuing a course that is different from the one you advocate.

I find this completely amusing. Infact I am starting to see that psychquackery has a personal vendeta against me.
If you read the *entire* thread link, than you would see that I actually proposed nothing.
I simply came on the board and said something along the lines of - "I am having sucess with a rTMS unit that I built"
I did not give any specifics at first, I just simply stated what I thought was happening.
In fact, the real reason I said that was because
I beleived that rTMS was helping, and perhaps to give hope to people who may want to try it.Now thats what angered psychquackery. He is a huge propenent of ECT, and cannot believe that
anything else may be efficatious for depression at all.As far as the details of the unit go. I gave them to the people who were interested in them.
Everybody knows that if you do this yourself you are taking all risks into your own hands.I know I am taking a risk by doing this, and I am not proposing that anybody do it who is not willing to take the same precautiouns that I
have. You must understand that there was nothing melitious intended or imposed by anyone.
And I don't recomend anyone underdake such
a project without fully informing themselves
of the *potential* consequences.Anyone who knows me here, knows that although
my mood has fluctuated over the course
of my time here, I do not want to impose any
harm upon anyone.

> BobDoc Bob, I know you will shuffle this to the admin board, but the poster Psychquackery said Linkadge's ideas where "stupid" and "dangerous". You didn't give a PBC to Psychquackery, so why one to Linkadge? If all parties don't have a right to defend themselves, then all parties should get equal treatment..i.e. PBC.
