Sex and Zoloft

Posted by Lovely Lisa on August 13, 2003, at 17:17:53

Hi!
I have been taking 50 mg. of Zoloft for about two months. Ever since I started, my sex drive has changed dramatically. I love my boyfriend and I'm very attracted to him, but my sexual feelings have just about disappeared. Also, I am rarely able to orgasm, and when it does happen, it isn't as great as it used to be. Do you think there is a problem with me, or is it the Zoloft? I'm worried that I will never have a good sex life again. I have been taking 150 mg. of Wellbutrin for a few weeks but haven't noticed a significant improvement. Should I talk to my doctor about getting off the Zoloft and increasing the Wellbutrin to 300 mg?
Thanks for your advice!
Lisa

It is for sure the Zoloft. If you're feeling better on the SSRI then I wouldn't quit taking it and switch to Wellbutrin. You could try it, but may not work as good. I guess Wellbutrin is great for weight loss and sex drive. Good luck.

Probably the Zoloft. It is a side-effect that may still wear off yet.

Give the Wellbutrin a little more time to work...4-6 weeks, then decide if it is helping.

Hi!
Thanks for the advice. I have been so worried about this because I wasn't sure if only 50 mg. of Zoloft could possibly have this effect. I spoke to my doctor today and she told me to increase my dosage of the Wellbutrin to 300 mg. and continue with the Zoloft. I am just tired of having no sex drive! When I kiss my boyfriend, I feel like I'm not doing anything because nothing arouses me. I really hope this works!
Thanks again
Lisa
