When I started lexapro about 1 1/2 years go, it seemed to help me fall asleep at night; I am a true insomniac. I am taking Leapro for anxiety. More and More, I find I need to take Lorexepam every night after taking the Lexapro and then a good belt of scotch (which I hate). Even then, I have difficulty falling asleep and am awake for 3-4 hours after taking the lexapro. Anyone else going through this. Should I discontinue Lexapro, do you think?

Why don't you take it (Lexapro) in the morning??
Why don't you you take something different to help you sleep?

alcohol messes up your sleep cycles. Considering
taking the lex in the AM and discussing a better
method to induce sleep.

I have had to move time of Lex dose to avoid what you are going through. Started in the morning, the afternoon, the evening, and now after 6mos. I'm back to mornings again.
I too was a terrible insomniac befor Lex, never got more than a few hours sleep (if at all) would wake up at 3-4AM and never able to go back to sleep. Now I fall asleep easily and don't wake up until alarm goes off.
I tried the alcohol route also, but never had good results. The alcohol I'm sure affects liver, enzymes, and absorption of the Lex and may be more detrimental in the long run.
OTC sleep remedies help some.... I took Tylenol PM and it helped me over the rough spots. You should consider talking to DR about your problem, he/she may prescribe sleep aid that will be more effective.
Good Luck to you!~~~8|8
