I was wondering what dosages of Abilify people were taking.
I'm taking 20 milligrams for bi-polar disorder but it doesn't seem to be doing much. I never really suffer from mania -mainly depression. My docotor is away right now but I'm wondering if we should raise the dosage or try something else.

How long have you been on it?
Could try going up to 30 mg.
What else are you taking?

I'm also on Lamictal 400 and Parnate 100.
I was on Zyprexa which was working well but the weight gain got too unhealthy. I guess 30 is not such a big dose. I've had no side effects thus far.

wow alot of meds yet again i see, my doctor wont prescribe any one with more than one medication, i am on 15mg remeron for my mania, depression, anxiety, panick dosorder and ocd.. wow what alot of disorders i have is there a name to combine them all?

hi,
i take 15mg of abilify along with zyprexa and lexapro. i have schizophrenia. since i started the abilify i've noticed that i interact with people more and i don't feel socially awkward. i'll answer my phone, go out with friends, etc.

I would give the 20 mg a little more time, maybe two weeks, then consider going to 30 mg if you haven't noticed any changes.

I have been on just about every dose of Abilify there is. I am one of the lucky ones that it worked right away..like I am talking less than 24hrs. I was in a hospital setting and I was put on 15 the first day. I am a bipolar rapid cycler and I was very manic at the time. Then outpatient we increased to 30 but I got akathisia so we cut it to 22.5 then back down to 15. I still have the side effects but I am on Cogentin now and that controls it. I am a psych RN and my p-doc and the ones I work with usually abandon it within a week if they don't see improvement. My experience at work is that it is a wonder drug, or a sugar pill..no mediocre responses. Maybe it is time to move on. leslie

I may up the dosage if my doctor thinks it's wise but you're right: I won't spend a lot of time screwing around with it. If it doesn't work right away I'll move on.Steeler

try 30 if you can...I can't tell you how wonderful this drug is for me and I hope it is for u 2!! I would rather cut off a leg than go off this med. leslie

Originally, I raised my dosage of Abilify to 15mg a day but I was getting some side effects like insomnia. Now, I'm on 10mg a day and it seems to work just as well and less side effects. I really recommend this med. It has rid me of my voices and negative symptoms very well. I haven't felt this good in many years.

I should add that it did take a couple of months to work completely but it's well worth the wait and only on 10mg. I don't think a higher dosage actually speeds up the process; my pdoc agrees with this.
