I am trying to figure out if i have ADD or what my problem is. My main problem is that i feel very awkward in social situations. People say that i dont seem to listen to them, probably because im worrying about screwing up. But a lot of the time my mind seems blank, just BLAH. I cant seem to connect with others, or go with the flow of conversation. What is this??? Is is ADD?
I also see a side of me that has ocd. I used to always obsess about my appearance, not so much now though, like always having to check the mirror, being hyperaware of what i ate etc. Im pretty sure that this is the obsessive part of my personality.
Now for the meds. Ive never taken ritalin, dexedrine, but i am very interested in them because ephedrine (similar amphetamine) completely relieves my symptoms.
SSRIs have just sucked for me. They did help but the side effect of fatigue just zonked me out.
I ordered ultram, an opiate like morphine but less potent, in the hope that it will cure my symptoms- lots of studies saying that it helps with ocd.

Well, it's just my opinion, but I really wouldn't worry too much about a diagnosis. It is your symptoms you want to get under control, and I think the best relief can be found by taming those symptoms. Even with a diagnosis, there is of course no absolute 'cure', and it may in time be a bit of a helpful guide, but we all seem to react so differently to the same medication. Remember, each diagnosis has a very complex set of criteria, and it may take some time before you actually get a "correct" diagnosis. So, as usual, work with your doctor, and if you don't feel you are getting the best treatment, get another doctor. It may take some time, but you will find in the end it was worth it.
