I just started Neurontin. 300mg 2x/day. Also I take Parnate 60mg and Lamictal 200mg. Neither are helping me much, if any. I take them for unipolar depression.
I have some questions about Neurontin:
What dose have people found to be effective? How quickly did you notice an effect? Did you gain weight? What other side effects? How much did/does it help you - ie, what positive effects are there from the drug? Mainly, I guess I wanted it to help me be more calm, less agitated, also more relaxed in certain situations. I don't exactly have full-blown social phobia, but let's just call it social uneasiness when I don't really know people, and a HUGE phobia of speaking in front of people. I also think I have a touch of ADD.

I take 300mg at night for restless legs (OK, last night I took 600mg cause 300mg wasn't enough). When I first started taking it my pdoc asked if it helped with the depression (I may have been on 600mg at that time). As far as I could tell, it had no effect for me on my depression.

My pdoc prescribed me to take Neurontin 1 cap as needed for sleep/relaxation. He said I can take up to 3 per day. So far I have taken it on 5 different occasions and it really works for me.
Within about 2 hours after taking a Neurontin my body feels really relaxed....sort of like woozy from alcohol. I do seem to have a residual side effect the following day feeling a little drowsy also.
Neurontin has several purposes...anti-seizure, mood stabilizer, pain management. I think it's a wonderful drug!
