Irritable on Effexor....Is anyone else?

Posted by tmgirl on July 23, 2003, at 23:48:46

Hi all...today I started 75mg following a week of 37.5 now. I do feel like it is helping although I find I am WAY more irritable on effexor than off the effexor all together. Is this common? I have almost no patience at all with my husband & kids and the worst part is, that the effexor makes me feel like "I really dont care". I dont like having that feeling towards them but feel as though I just cant help it. I fear this is going to hurt my marriage because my hubby isnt even talking to me at all and when he does it is just to argue. I feel like when we both give up than thats when we are in trouble. Its as if I dont know him anymore and he doesnt know me eaither. WOW this is strange. I know I need something to help with the depression but at the same time I dont want to have that "I dont care about anything" attitude. Also, does the irritability go away soon?
Sorry to go on and on I just had to vent some! AAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Effexor actually helped my marriage because 1) I was less angry and 2) I was more confident in expressing my affection to him.

I used to be on this site often, and stopped for a couple months.I am just taking a peek tonight,so if you ask me a question and you don't hear back, it is because I don't do this regularly anymore.

Effexor made me aggitated! My neck and shoulders were tight- I was in a constant bad mood- PMS to the nth degree. It turns out it wasn't the right medicine for me. Hopefully your symptoms will ease. If they don't, consider another drug, but keep in mind that you MUST withdraw from Effexor very slowly or you will feel worse than you do now.

Good luck!
