If I give up on the zonegran, I'll go back to Abilify. To deal with the restlessness (akathesia), my doctor tried a few meds and now gave me cogentin. I can't really figure out what it does or why it would help.

The people I know who take Cogentin say they take it to control the shakes that other meds give them -- and it works from what I see -- none of them shake!

Cogentin, or benztropine, is an anticholinergic used to combat the movement side effects of anti-psychotic medications. It is also used in the treatment of Parkinson's Disease. It improves muscle control and decreases the stiffness and tremors.
