I've been taking 1mg of Klonopin 3x/day, but noticed 1mg these days is equal to 2mg back during the first 3 months I started. I also combine it with Nalodol 40mg/day (beta blocker) this is tremendously good for "breakthrough" social anxiety (kind of like what pain sufferers say about pain).
I think it's now prudent to consider my options with Straterra. I have inattentive ADD, so I was thinking of Straterra anyway. My doc said it might help with the anxiety. Anyone notice this? All I hear is people using it for depression on this board. I don't get that.
I get tired during the day. I read on medline under "modafinil" and "social anxiety" a letter, but couldn't get access to it. It was about Provigil on social anxiety. Any one notice changes in their mood or anxiety while on it?
thanks!

Straterra may help your social skills if you have ADD. You might also tolerate conversation and groups better on medication for ADD. I could not tolerate Straterra because I found it very extremely sedating. I don't think that is very common. As for Provigil, I can't imagine it would help with social anxiety. It made me nervous and sweaty while I was alone. That doesn't seem like a good way to reduce social anxiety. The other ADD drugs in slow release form (like Concerta) were far less nerve-racking for me.

I find Strattera very helpful for anxiety and focus (together with Klonopin and a bit of Adderall). For me, it's a very "mellow" drug; not really activating, but it helps me stay on track and calm. The main problems I had were with dosage increases, and this seems to be a common theme here: it can cause nausea, dry mouth and eyes, stiffness, etc. if ramped too fast.
In the month+ that I've been taking it, I've found that each increase caused side effects (pretty minor, mostly mild nausea, which is unusual for me) for a few days to a week, then these disappeared.
I've gone from 25 mg/day to 40, then 50, then 60-65, and may increase that. Some people do seem to react quite negatively though, so I'd try it cautiously -- my pdoc gave me a handful of sample packs of 25 and 40 mg pills, which allowed experimentation with various doses (the reps are really pushing it).
I liked Provigil; again, no anxiety, some increase in motivation and energy, just not enough help with concentration. I'd take it again, and at least one poster here has had good success in mixing it with Strattera. Free samples of this too should be readily available.
Good luck!
