Do medications for ADD could help anyone with OCD??
I have ocd and use ephedrine (herbal stimulant) sometimes, which completely relieves my symptoms. This is really strange though since a stimulant like ephedrine is usually only helpful for ADD.
I am also wondering whether a stimulant like dexedrine would help with ocd.I have also tried all the SSRI's- all had terrible side effects and made me tired ALL the time.

I think stimulants can help with symptoms that could be mistaken for ocd, for example negative ruminations, getting stuck on hopeless thoughts, and activate your mind letting you think about more things. at least this is what it does for me. how about you?

hey jon, yea thats what is does for me too. Do u have any experience with dexedrine or ephedrine?
Im so confused on why these doctors only see the benefit of stimulant medications for ADD. If they open up your mind to new things and completely stop the negative thought process, they should be considering them for OCD too.

you could augment a stimulant with an ssri. the stimulant would take care of the tiredness and you would get the benifits of an ssri

Clonidine does and that is used heaps for ADD. It is an anti-hypertensive drug primarily.
