I'm considering a TCA for migraine prevention.
Any suggestions? I want to avoid memory problems or weight gain. Some agitation is ok for me; I'd rather be agitated than have a migraine.
Solutions?

Weight gain and TCA's go hand in hand for many people.

I've been on imipramine for over 20 years. No significant weight gain, mild postural hypotension, dry mouth. I find the side effects much more tolerable than that of SSRIs. At how effective TCAs are for migraines I don't know. Why not imitrex?

Hey books! Im on a tca, elavil, and its been very good, not too high a dose though, minimal sde effects compared with SSRI's, and it seems like these class of AD's can really work when SSRI's havent. Good luck, if you give them a try!
