I don't know if you guys have been following this but the new anti-epilectic drug, Zonegran, has found to be ver successful drug for weightloss, much better actually over the long term than the meds like phentermine that are currently approved for weight loss. Like other anti-epilectic, eg Neurontin, it seems like may have mood stabilizing and anti-anxiety effects for many people. My p-doc won't prescribe it for me--even though I'm 45 lbs overweight. I'd like to order this online and give it a try. I find that I'm much more motivated to exercise when I'm encouraged by weight loss. One study showed that people on zonegran over six months lost an average of 14% body weight on a low cal diet compared to only 2% for the placebo group also a low cal diet. What's interesting about the drug is that unlike the others it seems to provide lasting weight loss long after the normal three months when the other drugs tend to quit working. I have a BMI of about 36 now and really need to lose the weight. Please help me find out how to order this stuff online! thanks, dwight

Why won't your doctor prescribe it? My Doctor has prescribed it for me to offset the weight I've gained from Zyprexa. The study at Duke University was pretty convincing. What are your doctor's reservations?

Well, she heard of using wellbutrin and topamax, but not Zonegran, and she thinks it's better to make a "lifestyle change" she's young and seems to have a rather large ego, too.
This is the end of the thread.
