My Jaw is on the ground!!! NARDIL BRILLIANCE!

Posted by ace on June 20, 2003, at 1:28:33

Hey Kids!,

I just can't believe how well this baby is working! Believe me, when I tell you I feel the light of God is shining through me!

It has teared the anxiety to bits and obliterated- not by 99% but by 100%- my depression. It's like EVERYTHING in life I am enjoying- even the crap things!

The OCD of course needs more work, but that's Zyprexa's job.

Part of the reason I went off Nardil is due to the confidence it was giving me- on Nardil nothing could go wrong so why not change to Anafranil!

It was a mistake, I mean, who posts 'A tribute to Nardil' as he is going off the med! Also, in my records I was always reluctant to go off it.

S/effects at the moment: anorgasmia creeping back in (it's taking me longer and longer too....hmmm Ithink you know what!)
I WILL CHOOSE NARDIL OVER REGULAR ORGASMS ANY DAY!

dry nose- Nardil has always done this

not many other s/effects.

I walk along the street trying my best to conceal a smile I feel so brilliant...

Ace.
Forever a Nardil Junky!, 90mg.

Maybe Ace is just really happy ....

It can induce hypomania, as can Parnate, although not like the SSRIs. I'm bipolar and the Parnate has not made me MORE hypomanic. But I am trying to find a mood stabiliser that works for me.

Ace is also taking Zyprexa which I think would prevent any hypomania from occuring if that were the case.

But let's ask Ace directly.

So Ace .... are you bipolar and do you think Nardil has induced hypomania in you?

Max

I think this is an accurate statement.

Not just am I taking it - will be taking it soon for the OCD.

OK!

No, I'm not bipolar nor do I think Nardil has induced hypomania as defined by psychiatric nosology - for instance on Nardil when I moved house a while back (I always get depressed moving house) I felt a little flat, but not depressed like I would have sans Nardil. Also, if I felt I did poorly in an exam I would feel flat but Nardil would protect me from spiraling into a depression. But usually, and I mean the vast majority, it really motivates me, makes me happy to be alive, puts my heart into life and makes the hard times much much less hard.

Thanks for asking Max - have you considered Zyprexa for your 2nd drug?

All the best,
Ace.

Ace & Maxime, I was teasing with my question about the hypomania. I meant no offense. :) Ace, I'm glad you are happy and that your meds are working. Your enthusiasm is refreshing.

Hi Ace, wow what you describe is amazing, can I ask, how long did it take for the Nardil to kick in when you originally started taking it, did it gradually begin to take effect, or did you just wake up one morning and WAM! There it was. I'm on week five of it now, and the depression is really hard. I went up to 90mg last night.

thanks so much, Ben

> When I was on it before I noticed within the space of 2 days I was very motivated and enjoying things, from there it just went up, and wen I upped it to 90mg it just got better - gradually. If you upped to 90mg it will take some additional time to reach steady state at this level - it has always taken about six or so weeks from the start of Nardil to kick in- but it might happen in one day or might take place over a few. Believe me, you'll know about it when it does. Just please be patient. For instance, one effect Nardil can have is stomach/gut soreness- this might effect the drugs absorption for a while so you might need a little extra time. Just hang in there bro- any questions I'm here for!

Your mate,
Andrew, aka Ace.
