Has anayone noticed increased libido from Strattera?...my 15 year old son refuses to say why he does not want to go off it (too many OCD, tic side effects despite help with ADD)... I'm beginning to suspect this is the reason by some of his behavior...

You might also consider -- if he was previously on stims -- his libido may been have suppressed on stims, and the Strattera is merely leveling things out.
Or that he merely feels better of the stims, on this med, regardless if any immediate ADD Sx resolution appears.
Stims can make one feel rather badly over time.

Yes, strat has definitely increased the 'ol sex drive but I would think a teenage boy would need no help in that area.

REPLY: I am female, but yet I have noticed an increase in my libido. Yet my husband who recently tried the Strattera had impotence problems while on Strattera and had to go off of it.
As a side note: If your son is getting good results from the Strattera for his ADD symptoms, then you might want to consider having the doctor prescribe Prozac or Celexa to help with his OCD or ticks. My son uses Strattera and Stimulant medication combined and has had problems with tics (specifically obsessively picking at sores or scabs on his skin) and our doctor has him on Celexa for that. It has improved the situation so you might want to try that instead of taking your son off of the Strattera.
I don't know how old your son is, but his increased libido is most likely due to him turning into a man. My son is only 10 and a half and I am already noticing an increased interest in his penis. Like the movie 'Parenthood' says: "That's what little dudes do!" My husband has confirmed that this is normal behavior. I only grew up with a sister, so raising boys has been quite interesting.
This is the end of the thread.
