Anyone have success with lamictal either on its own or as an augmentor for anxiety--GAD, lump in throat--and atypical depression. I am currently on 225 Effexor and will move up to 300 soon. I am getting a very inadequate response and looking for something to augment or possibly change to. What do people think? What dosages are good and how fast can you move up? What about side effects?

Jack,
Here is a link with some Lamictal info:
http://www.psycheducation.org/depression/meds/lamotrigine.htm
The standard handout has a dosing schedule which is 12.5mg a week. That's what I'm doing. There is an explanation of the rash problem and why you have to go slow.
Hope this helps,
Diane

"as an augmentor for anxiety--GAD, lump in throat"
Sounds like magnesium would be a good thing to try (get magnesium glycinate).
This is the end of the thread.
